Amazon: More Flexible Shipping

Ben Fox Rubin from CNet published an article at the beginning of November about Amazon’s shipping policies and how they will change in the coming months.  Read on to learn more about what he had to say.

“Amazon Day” is coming to town.  Prime users, listen up. Amazon is working to allow a customizable delivery day for its Prime members.  This means that any shopping you do over the week will add to the delivery set for your specific day.

If you choose Wednesday, that is when all of your products will arrive.  That day of the week will remain your Amazon Day for all future weeks to come, unless you go back and change it. What are the benefits? Less boxes will be used to ship your orders, which will be very beneficial for the environment.  Also, with added predictability as to when your orders will arrive, you can avoid theft as much as possible. As of now, this program is by invite only. And if this does not sound like something you would potentially opt in to, Amazon will still offer all old shipping selections as well.

The holiday season is right around the corner, and so is the implementation of the new Amazon Day feature for some Prime users. If you are a regular online shopper, considering opting in to this feature if invited; it can cut down on packaging waste and help you to know exactly when your products will be arriving.
